Om forskningssenteret
Senter for dyphavsforskning ble grunnlagt i 2021 som et resultat av et sjener酶st bidrag fra Trond Mohn forskningsstiftelsen. Senteret bygger p氓 ekspertisen fra det fremragende forskning i geobiologi (2007-2017) og det etterf酶lgende K. G. Jebsen Senter for dyphavsforskning (2017-2021).

Ved Senter for dyphavsforskning i Bergen, Norge, tiln忙rmer vi oss dyphavsforskning gjennom tverrfaglig samarbeid, og vi arbeider for 氓 v忙re en global leder innen banebrytende forskning og transformative oppdagelser.

V氓r visjon er 氓 utvide grensene for vitenskapelig forst氓else og fremme kunnskapen om dyphavets milj酶er og deres geologiske og biologiske potensial.
Senter for dyphavsforskning er dedikert til 氓 fremme kunnskap om dyphavets geologiske utvikling, biologiske tilpasninger, biodiversitet og potensielle mineralressurser. V氓rt tverrfaglige team av forskere og teknikere jobber for 氓 bedre forst氓 hvordan geologiske, kjemiske og biologiske prosesser samvirker i komplekse milj酶er, som for eksempel havbunnens hydrotermale systemer. Vi bygger bro mellom grunnleggende forskning og praktiske anvendelser og kobler vitenskap, utdanning, teknologi og industri gjennom samarbeid med internasjonale universiteter og havobservasjonsnettverk, lokale og nasjonale undervannsindustrier, samt andre forskningsinstitusjoner.
V氓r forskning er organisert i fem sammenknyttede, tverrfaglige grupper med et s忙rlig fokus p氓 Norskehavet og Arktis. Sammen har vi som m氓l 氓 flytte grensene for dyphavsforskning og innovasjon.

Senter for Dyphavsforskning er en del av Institutt for Geovitenskap ved Universitetet i Bergen i tillegg til 氓 v忙re sterkt tilknyttet til Institutt for Biovitenskap. Senteret best氓r av omtrent 15 forskere i professor-, f酶rsteamanuensis- og forskerstillinger, 15 doktorgradsstudenter, 10 teknikere og administrativt ansatte og rundt 20 masterstudenter.
Sammen dekker v氓re forskere et bredt spekter av vitenskapelig ekspertise: Vi er geofysikere, petrologer, geokjemikere, geobiologer, paleontologer, mikrobiologer, bioinformatikere, marinbiologer, og taksonomer. V氓r hovedstyrke ligger i kombinasjonen av v氓r mangfoldige bakgrunn, og gj酶r oss i stand til 氓 utf酶re banebrytende forskning som utvider v氓r kunnskap om dyphavet og dets ressurser.
