About the research project
Subsurface storage provides scalable large-scale energy storage but requires multidisciplinary expertise to develop high confidence predictive capabilities and risk management systems. This, in turn, requires advanced simulation capabilities that are validated for realistic physical models in a complex geology. Â
ICE-SSR brings together leading groups from diverse geographies and disciplines with the shared vision of advancing physics-based simulation:Â
ICE-SSR will expand and solidify integration of experiments, simulation tools, digital twins to all partners located in global hotspots of subsurface-related entrepreneurship activities. Â
The primary objective of ICE-SSR is to address a critical gap: the lack of multidisciplinary, globally connected training in subsurface storage for senior undergraduate and graduate students.Â
