April 25th聽2025, Martine R酶ysted Sol氓s 聽defended her PhD dissertation 芦Vertical distribution of mesopelagic organisms under changing oxygen conditions: Insights from western Norwegian fjords鈥. 聽Her opponents were Tracey Dornan from the British Antarctic Survey and Johanna Myrseth Aarflot from Institute of Marine Research (IMR). The committee leader was Jarl Giske (黑料吃瓜资源) and the disputation leader was Arild Folkvord (黑料吃瓜资源).

Martine was supervised by main supervisor Anne Gro Vea Salvanes (黑料吃瓜资源) and co-supervisors Dag L. Aksnes (黑料吃瓜资源) and Arved Staby (IMR).

The thesis explores how oxygen loss might impact vertical distribution patterns by small mesopelagic fish. These organisms are important prey for many predators, and they link the surface and the deep sea through their diel vertical migrations.聽

Martine gave an excellent overview of her thesis before she discussed her research with the opponents.
