The research project for the Ph.D. is about biogeochemical cycles in the deep sedimentary biosphere. Life in this part of the biosphere lives under severe energy constraints and our knowledge about their influence on biogeochemical cycles and fluxes under these limitations is relatively unknown. The project aims to gain more insight whom is active and identify the active metabolisms through omics and metabarcoding techniques.
