The core of my research lies within the transition from fossil resources to green energy and materials. This means that as a researcher I explore conversion strategies for various biomass feedstocks (forestry- and food waste, microalgae etc.) into energy carrying biooils, biofuels and high value platform chemicals, focusing on developing sustainable processes with a minimal environmental footprint. Platform chemicals serve as substrates in both medicine, chemical synthesis and construction, and as a biomass advocate, I mean that anything can be made from biomass; one simply needs enough time in the lab. However, the transition from fossil- and petroleum-based resources and feedstocks into renewable replacements needs an overarching and holistic evaluation to determine both environmental-, economical- and social sustainability. Therefore, I include life cycle assessment (LCA) methodology as a measuring point for technological/environmental feasibility, as well as having created and currently teach the corresponding  at ºÚÁϳԹÏ×ÊÔ´.
