June 17, 2025: Martino wins prestigious grant
The European Research Council (ERC) has just selected Martino Marisaldi as the winner of a prestigious ERC Advanced Grant.

On 17 June 2025 the selected Martino Marisaldi as a winner of the very prestigious ERC Advanved Grant. His ENLIGHTEN project will receive 3,5 million Euros to investigate the causal relationship between high-energy radiation and lightning initiation.
ENLIGHTEN stands for Exploring Lightning Initiation and Gamma-ray High-energy emission in Thunderstorm Environments. It will uncover how gamma-ray emissions are linked to lightning, which is crucial for understanding atmospheric electricity.

ERC Advanced Grant
Advanced Grants are awarded by the European Research Council (ERC). These are highly prestigious grants for world-class research. This year there were 281 winners from 2500 applications. Martino Marisaldi was one of only 5 winners from Norway.
