Ingrid Noguera, who is Serra Húnter Associate Professor at the Department of Theories of Education and Social Pedagogy at the Autonomous University of Barcelona will be here in Bergen this week and will be giving a guest lecture on Wednesday afternoon about how AI and UDL can help us reach all students. The talk is designed to apply to the teaching of university and secondary school students/pupils.

In today’s classrooms, diversity is no longer the exception—it is the norm. Students differ in their cultural backgrounds, abilities, motivations, and learning rhythms, making inclusion both a priority and a challenge. Recent data show a significant increase in students with special educational needs and persistent inequalities within education systems.

Building on the framework of Universal Design for Learning (UDL), the talk will show how personalization can be planned from the outset through multiple forms of representation, action, and engagement, removing barriers before they appear. The session will then focus on the role of artificial intelligence (AI) as an emerging tool to support personalization.

This session invites educators, researchers, and policymakers to rethink personalization not as a technological solution, but as a pedagogical and ethical commitment to inclusive education.
