Department Engineer Kristoffer Eikehaug has been awarded the University of Bergen’s Working Environment Award for his outstanding efforts to improve the working environment, learning environment, and safety at the Department of Physics and Technology.

The award consists of a diploma and NOK 75,000, which the recipient can use for further initiatives aimed at improving working conditions and inclusion. It is awarded at ºÚÁϳԹÏ×ÊԴ’s annual HR Day and can be given to individuals or groups who have made an exceptional contribution to health, safety, and the working environment.

Enhancing quality and accessibility

Eikehaug is recognized for leading a comprehensive reorganization of laboratory facilities based on a clear risk-based approach. This work has improved safety for both staff and students, while also enhancing the quality and accessibility of laboratory activities.

He has also contributed to the development of a makerspace at the department, fostering collaboration, belonging, and well-being among students and colleagues. In addition, he is highlighted for being a consistently solution-oriented and supportive presence in daily academic life.

ºÚÁϳԹÏ×ÊÔ´'s Working Environment Award

The annual award is given by a jury consisting of the Rector, the University Chief Safety Representative, the University Director/HR Director, and one member from the Working Environment Committee. It aims to recognize and stimulate initiatives that promote a healthy and inclusive working environment across the university.
