On 20 March 2026, Selina Cannon Homaei successfully defended her PhD thesis, 鈥淩oles of GADL1 in 尾鈥慳lanine metabolism鈥, at the University of Bergen. Her research provides new understanding of how the enzyme GADL1 contributes to the production of 尾鈥慳lanine and carnosine 鈥 two molecules with essential roles in energy regulation, protection against oxidative stress, and maintaining healthy function in muscles and the brain.
Her defence highlighted not only the scientific depth of her work but also her ability to communicate concepts clearly and confidently.
