Abstract:
In a Viking and Medieval context, most spatial analyses have focused on relatively complex settlements and house constructions. In south-western Norway, however, most sites are small, simple and found in the outlands. Consequently, they are not well suited for these traditional analysis techniques. Therefore, there is a need to analyse the spatial properties of these sites in a new manner. Using iron production at Gr氓fjell as a case study, this presentation investigates the potential of fractal analysis for the study of outland sites.
Time: 14.15-16.00
Place: Sydneshaugen skole, Auditorium Q
