Geophysical Science Infrastructures

These are the science infrastructures the geophysics groups is involved in.

EPOS-NG

EPOS-NO is a consortium to build a solid earth infrastructure for Norway.

EPOS-NG - Phase 2 2025-2035

  • The project EPOS-Norway – Research Infrastructure for Geohazards (EPOS-NG) is funded by the Research Council of Norway (NFR) for a five-year implementation phase from 2025 to 2030, followed by a five-year operational phase (ending in 2035).

EPOS-N - Phase 1 2016-2025

  • EPOS-N is a previous project from 2016 to 2025 that established an infrastructure for solid earth in Norway.

NNSN

  •  consists of 34 seismic stations located in Norway and on the Norwegian Arctic islands.
  • Most of the stations transmit real-time data and all data are processed simultaneously to detect and locate earthquakes in Norway and nearby areas.
  • The data from the network are also used in scientific studies to better understand the distribution and causes of seismic activity as well as for understanding the Earth's structure.
