Research on women's health

This call supports research groups that want to develop new knowledge about women's health throughout the life course with a focus on menopausal disorders. Funding is available for research that provides a better understanding of biological, social and work-related conditions, and that lays the foundation for more accurate and equitable high-quality health services.

CALL: Support for a National Network for Women's Health Research

The objective of the call is to establish a national network for women's health research that will contribute to better national coordination of existing research groups, so that resources are utilised more efficiently and dialogue is strengthened. At the same time, the network is encouraged to actively mobilize new professional communities to engage in the women's health field through targeted recruitment and the establishment of new collaboration arenas. This will help facilitate the active participation of Norwegian research communities in relevant national and international projects and forums.

National Institute of Health

Until 2027: Office of Research on Women's Health

The application amount is usually up to USD 500,000 per year. There are three annual application deadlines: February 5, June 5, and October 5, until 2027.

Note:

Many of the previously canceled research funds are now available again after a federal judge recently overturned several directives from the central administration that led to the cancellation of the research funding. Those considering applying for funding from the NIH should stay informed through the media and the official websites for any changes in funding.

Breast cancer initiatives under the annual Pink Ribbon campaign

Norwegian Cancer Society works to combat and prevent cancer, and to ensure that cancer patients and their next of kin have the best possible life. Personalized medicine for cardiovascular, metabolic and kidney disease. Factors such as sex/gender may be included as variables in analyses, but it is not a requirement or main objective for the research to focus on women’s health

Transnational research call under ERA4Health

The call focuses on understanding and prevention of overweight and obesity, not explicitly on general women’s health research, but it includes topics such as critical life transition periods like menopause and postpartum, which may be relevant for women’s health research.

Novo Nordisk Foundation

Non-Diabetic Endocrinology Collaborative Grants 2026

Non-Diabetic Endocrinology Collaborative Grants 2026 from the Novo Nordisk Foundation support clinical collaborative projects within non-diabetic endocrinology, including women’s health and reproduction. The call is aimed at Nordic research environments and seeks to strengthen collaboration as well as improve the prevention and treatment of endocrine diseases.

Application deadline: 3 June 2026

Funding: A total of up to DKK 53 million is available for grants between DKK 5 million and DKK 10 million for projects lasting from 3 to 5 years
