A Strong Program and Engaged Audience

Participants highlighted the event as a successful platform for collaboration, reinforcing Bergen’s role as a hub for global health research. The two-day conference featured a program divided into three parts:

Part I – Thematic Keynote Sessions
Partnership North–South
Explored equitable cooperation grounded in respect and shared objectives.
Keynote: Carmeliza Rosario (ϳԹԴ).
Climate Change & Health
Addressed health impacts of global warming and extreme weather, including heat-induced kidney disease.
Keynotes: Professor Carl‑Gustaf Elinder (Karolinska) and Professor Helge Drange (ϳԹԴ).
Global Health Priorities
Reviewed updates from the Global Burden of Disease project and strategic decision-making.
Keynotes: Simon Øverland, Kjell Arne Johansson, and Stein Emil Vollset.
Artificial Intelligence in Global Health
Discussed AI’s transformative potential in diagnosis and health systems.
Keynote: Pinar Heggernes (ϳԹԴ).

Part II – Launch of the Norwegian Research School in Global Health for Sustainable Futures
The highlight of the conference was the successful launch of this national initiative, funded by the Research Council of Norway. Mari Sundli Tveit, CEO of the Research Council, inaugurated the school, which unites seven universities and key partners such as APHRC, Copenhagen University, Laerdal Global Health, and NORAD.

Selected submissions were presented, showcasing diverse research and fostering academic exchange.
