PhD student Rune Krogh Eilertsen continues his original research on early cardiac changes in young patients who have survived an ischemic stroke. Even among patients where the neurologist did not find any underlying cause for the ischemic stroke, referred to as cryptogenic ischemic stroke,  Rune found that these patients more often than healthy controls had early cardiac changes. Typically, these cardiac changes were found in male patients with high blood pressure or obesity. The study did not find any association between persistent foramen ovale and presence of these early cardiac changes. We congratulate Rune with this important publication.
