The UA-KLAR project, ‘Clarification of Legal Frameworks for Investment, EU Integration, and Justice in Ukraine (UA-KLAR)’, aims to strengthen expertise in the Norwegian public and private sectors on Ukraine’s relationship with the EU and EEA, the regulation of investments in Ukraine, and the justice process.

A scholarship of NOK 40,000 is offered to students who wish to write a master's thesis on an Ukraine-related topic.

The scholarship is also available to students writing their master thesis as a part of an L.LM program.

There are several relevant thematic areas, to name some:

  • Ukraine's EU integration and its EEA dimension,
  • Defence cooperation between the EU and EEA states, and Ukraine,
  • Ukraine's free trade agreement with the EFTA states,
  • Norway's partial adherence to EU sanctions against Russia,
  • Issues related to the Russian shadow fleet in Norway's neighbouring areas,
  • Procurement of equipment for Ukraine, such as drones,
  • Peculiarities of the protection of Ukrainian refugees in Norway and in the EU.

Additional scholarship

Students who receive a scholarship will also be offered an additional scholarship of NOK 15,000 to prepare a short policy brief based on their master's thesis. Guidance will also be offered to support the development of a scientific article based on the submitted master’s thesis, should there be interest.
