Research
My PhD examined the re-emergence of citizenship deprivation in Norway, which was intensified after the so-called refugee crisis in 2015-2016. The thesis studies the practice from the perspective of the state (based on parliamentary discussions) and people accused of lying their way to Norwegian citizenship (based on qualitative interviews). In addition, the thesis discusses the current practice in light of historical cases of citizenship deprivation.
Previously I have studied how immigrants make sense of citizenship, the turn towards revocation and cessation of refugee status, citizenship law in the Nordic countries and consequences of hate speech for minorities.
