Research
Professor Sigurd O. Stefansson (December, 2017 ISI statistic 158, H-index 43) has long-term research experience in fish growth and development, reproduction and adaptation to the environment, both in salmonids and marine species, using a wide range of tools. Central in Stefansson鈥檚 research is the process of salmon smoltification, and his research includes both basic research and collaboration with the aquaculture industry. Research topics include the environmental, genetic and endocrine control of smoltification and basic mechanisms of adaptation to seawater.
