Work
My PhD dissertation focused on Glutamate Decarboxylase Like 1 (GADL1) and the effects of reduced enzyme function. We showed that GADL1 converts aspartate to β-alanine, influencing carnosine levels in a constitutive knockout mouse model. Research combined behavioral analysis, biochemical assays, metabolomics (LC-MS, HPLC, ¹H-NMR), transcriptomics (RNA-seq), proteomics, and R-based data analysis.
