Research
Marine Malet is a member of the European project "DIGISCREENS - Identities and democratic values on European digital screens: Distribution, reception, and representation", which examines the role of streaming platforms in the circulation of cultural and social dynamics in Europe, and works more specally on the French case.
In 2023, she completed a PhD in Information and Communication Sciences at the Universit茅 Paris-Panth茅on-Assas, defending a thesis entitled "Contemporary concerns and impending futures in dystopian TV-series: towards the creation of alternative public arenas? Analysis of production, representation and reception".
Following on from cultural studies and mediacultures, she examined the social and political functions of dystopian series by studying their production context, the dystopian representations portrayed, and their reception.
She is interested more broadly in the connections between (science-)fiction, TV series, society and politics, and online communities, incluence and fandoms.

Projects
Research project
(2023-2026) DIGISCREENS - Identities and democratic values on European digital screens: Distribution, reception, and representation
Led by Maud Ceuterick, the international transdisciplinary project DIGISCREENS focuses on how the streaming of films and TV series contributes to transform social and cultural dynamics in Europe. In particular, the project examines film and TV distribution, reception, and representation in the light of the last decades鈥 demands for increased diversity and inclusivity on screen. It asks how asks the streaming of audiovisual content from a great geographical diversity affect:
- the construction of identity and socio-cultural aspects such as gender, race, class and sexuality in film and TV series distributed in Europe;
- European audiences' reception of this content and negotiation of democratic values such as equality, inclusion, and solidarity.
The project is being carried out in five European countries (France, Lithuania, Norway, Spain, and Sweden), and Marine Malet is responsible for conducting research on the French case.
