Research
My research interests include:
- Medieval church buildings and their land- and cityscape settings
- Church furnishings and imagery of the Middle Ages and the early modern period
- The Reformation and its impact in the arts
The geographical focus of my research is Western Europe and a main characteristic is the comparative approach. Most of my research concerns Scandinavia, the Low Countries, Germany and the Iberian Peninsula.
Through my involvement in Future for Religious Heritage, I also work on the challenges and opportunities of religious heritage at present.
Outreach
I frequently give lectures on topics related to my research. I have worked together with the Church of Norway (Bj酶rgvin Diocese) on different projects since 2016. During my years in Groningen (Netherlands, until 2016), I was involved in the work of the foundations for Old Groningen and Old Frisian Churches.
