Camilla Brautaset鈥(born鈥1971)鈥痠s鈥痯rofessor鈥痮f modern economic history at the鈥疍epartment of鈥疉rcheology, History, Cultural Studies and Religion (AHKR). Together with professor Ole Thomassen Hjortland as Vice-Dean, she was elected Dean of the Faculty of Humanities for the period 2021-2025.

Brautaset is鈥痶rained in economics, history鈥痑nd鈥痚conomic history. Her doctoral thesis was within macroeconomic history and combined extensive archival in Norway and the UK, methods and perspectives from humanities with economic theories and quantitative analysis. In addition to macroeconomic history, Brautaset specialises in transnational history, quantitative sources and methods, economic policy and institutional change. In recent years her research interests have also evolved to include historiography as well as migration and missionary history.  鈥&苍产蝉辫;

Brautaset headed鈥痶he interdisciplinary鈥痳esearch鈥痝roup鈥淭ransnational History and Cultural Encounters, 1850-present鈥 from鈥痠t was established in 2008 until 2014 and continues to be member of this group today.鈥疘n 2010 she received a major research grant through the鈥疦orwegian Research Council鈥檚 open projects within the Humanities:鈥疢erchants and Missionaries. Norwegian Encounters with China in a Transnational Perspective, 1890-1937.鈥

Brautaset has held several posts of academic services, including as member of鈥痶he board for the Faculty of Humanities鈥(2017鈥2021), member of the board for the Bergen Maritime Museum鈥(since 2011), member of AHKR麓s advisory board (2013鈥2017) and鈥痓eing鈥痭ational editor of鈥疶he Scandinavian Economic History Review鈥(2015鈥2017). She also chaired the University of Bergen麓s Advisory Board for Academic Cooperation with China鈥(2018鈥2020).鈥
